The story of Al Aseel began in 1999 when the passion for quality Lebanese food led Faysal El-Abd to start his own catering company from home. After only a few years in the catering game, family and friends began encouraging Faysal to open a restaurant of his own.
In 2002 Faysal and his founding partner, Charlie Obeid, purchased their first 100 seat restaurant which has become one of Sydney’s most awarded Lebanese restaurants, Al Aseel Greenacre. It has become very well known to local and international visitors, including media outlets Gourmet Food Safari and SMH.
With the catering business rapidly growing, Al Aseel invested in a production kitchen and warehouse also in Greenacre. After a few years the demand to open a second restaurant became available, and Al Aseel Lakemba was launched.
The opening of Al Aseel Lakemba saw the brand grow rapidly, with the opening of restaurants in Newtown (2010), Wollongong (2013) and Penrith (2014). In 2016, strategy resulted in Al Aseel Newtown relocating to a larger premise in Alexandria.
An opportunity arose to construct a new 240 seat neighbouring restaurant, with the grand opening of a larger and improved Al Aseel Greenacre in 2012, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Al Aseel’s signature location. The original restaurant was renovated and converted into a function room where we now host a variety of functions and events.
Continuing to grow every year, 2017 is a mammoth year for Al Aseel with the central kitchen, warehouse and head office all moving to a larger space, whilst remaining true to our origins in Greenacre.
